The Carson Pass Scenic Highway is a dramatic escape into the high reaches and climes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains that runs from peaks and valleys to lakes and forest.

The Carson Pass Scenic Highway starts at Dew Drop on Highway 88, 55 miles north from Sacramento. Follow Highway 88 east to Woodfords and the end of the byway.

The drive travels along a mountainous path that is heavily timbered and crosses through both Eldorado and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forests. Fishing, biking, hiking, skiing, bird-watching, and boating are just some of the activities available to area sight-seers - be sure to leave time to enjoy a lingering stop in Mokelumne Wilderness Area for an insider's glimpse of what this lovely stretch of country is all about.
