Description

Mostly a ridge trail that alternates between subalpine forest and above timberline zones. The trail elevation varies as it passes two lakes and crosses two passes before descending to the Pasayten River.

The trail route is mostly above timberline and offers many views. For those seeking solitude the trail is generally not used much past Silver Lake. At about 0.5 mile there is a cut-off trail to the Robinson Creek-Middle Fork Trail No. 478, making loop trips possible via both the Middle Fork and West Fork drainages.

This trail should be considered more difficult for the stock user. While it is not impassable to stock, it is not a trail for the inexperienced horse or rider. There are sections of narrow tread with steep exposure and steep rocky stretches.

Wilderness use restrictions apply.

Stock ramp, hitch rail, vault toilet located 1 mile southwest of Hart's Pass. Parking Area and hiker trail head at 2nd switchback. Limited parking.
