Dry Tortugas National Park

Description

Seven small islands 70 miles west of Key West sit like sandy gems in a bright blue sea, the main bit of land comprising Dry Tortugas National Park, a remote area renowned for bird and marine life and in history, a pirate past superseded at one point by a military presence. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, you can enjoy camping, snorkeling, fishing and exploring Fort Jefferson at an unhurried pace (there are only eight regular campsites so don't expect it to get too crowded here, either) along with a splendid sunrise and sunset.
