Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is the antithesis to the frantic, gambling-driven pace of Las Vegas. Located a short 17 mile drive to the west of the Las Vegas strip, Red Rock Canyon is peaceful and serene, with Navajo Sandstone walls jutting from the Mojave Desert floor.
Red Rock Canyon offers its visitors a good number of recreational activities, though it is probably best known for its rock climbing. Any trip to Las Vegas should be mixed up with a trip to Red Rock Canyon, simply to shake the sound of one-armed bandits and the haze of neon lights from one's psyche.
