Winnemucca (pop 9000) is the historical crossroads of Nevada, where the major route connecting northern California and the East met up with roads from the Northwest. Today it's still a frequent traveller's stop, with plenty of places for visitors, whatever their destination, to get some rest or food before continuing on their way.
Located at the southern end of the Paradise Valley with the Santa Rosa Mountains flanking the far western view, Winnemucca is more than just a convenient junction on the map. Gold, silver, dolomite and limestone have all been mined nearby. Today, the mountains are furnished with an excellent trail system, and state parks are located within a short drive of downtown.
Winnemucca is located along I-80 in north central Nevada. For more information on the Winnemucca area, please select a topic of interest from the list on the left.
